\nNarrated `Urwa:\n \n\nI asked `Aisha : "How do you interpret the statement of Allah,. : Verily! (the mountains) As-Safa and \nAl-Marwa are among the symbols of Allah, and whoever performs the Hajj to the Ka`ba or performs \n`Umra, it is not harmful for him to perform Tawaf between them (Safa and Marwa.) (2.158). By \nAllah! (it is evident from this revelation) there is no harm if one does not perform Tawaf between Safa \nand Marwa." `Aisha said, "O, my nephew! Your interpretation is not true. Had this interpretation of \nyours been correct, the statement of Allah should have been, 'It is not harmful for him if he does not \nperform Tawaf between them.' But in fact, this divine inspiration was revealed concerning the Ansar \nwho used to assume lhram for worship ping an idol called "Manat" which they used to worship at a \nplace called Al-Mushallal before they embraced Islam, and whoever assumed Ihram (for the idol), \nwould consider it not right to perform Tawaf between Safa and Marwa. \nWhen they embraced Islam, they asked Allah's Messenger (ﷺ) (p.b.u.h) regarding it, saying, "O Allah's \nApostle! We used to refrain from Tawaf between Safa and Marwa." So Allah revealed: 'Verily; (the \nmountains) As-Safa and Al-Marwa are among the symbols of Allah.' " Aisha added, "Surely, Allah's \nApostle set the tradition of Tawaf between Safa and Marwa, so nobody is allowed to omit the Tawaf \nbetween them." Later on I (`Urwa) told Abu Bakr bin `Abdur-Rahman (of `Aisha's narration) and he \nsaid, 'I have not heard of such information, but I heard learned men saying that all the people, except \nthose whom `Aisha mentioned and who used to assume lhram for the sake of Manat, used to perform \nTawaf between Safa and Marwa. \nWhen Allah referred to the Tawaf of the Ka`ba and did not mention Safa and Marwa in the Qur'an, the \npeople asked, 'O Allah's Messenger (ﷺ)! We used to perform Tawaf between Safa and Marwa and Allah has \nrevealed (the verses concerning) Tawaf of the Ka`ba and has not mentioned Safa and Marwa. Is there \nany harm if we perform Tawaf between Safa and Marwa?' So Allah revealed: "Verily As-Safa and Al- \nMarwa are among the symbols of Allah." Abu Bakr said, "It seems that this verse was revealed \nconcerning the two groups, those who used to refrain from Tawaf between Safa and Marwa in the Pre- \nIslamic Period of ignorance and those who used to perform the Tawaf then, and after embracing Islam \nthey refrained from the Tawaf between them as Allah had enjoined Tawaf of the Ka`ba and did not \nmention Tawaf (of Safa and Marwa) till later after mentioning the Tawaf of the Ka`ba.'\n \nNarrated Jabir bin `Abdullah:\n \n\nThe Prophet (ﷺ) and his companions assumed Ihram for Hajj and none except the Prophet (p.b.u.h) and \nTalha had the Hadi (sacrifice) with them. `Ali arrived from Yemen and had a Hadi with him. `Ali said, \n"I have assumed Ihram for what the Prophet (ﷺ) has done." The Prophet (ﷺ) ordered his companions to \nperform the `Umra with the lhram which they had assumed, and after finishing Tawaf (of Ka`ba, Safa \nand Marwa) to cut short their hair, and to finish their lhram except those who had Hadi with them. \nThey (the people) said, "How can we proceed to Mina (for Hajj) after having sexual relations with our \nwives?" When that news reached the Prophet (ﷺ) he said, "If I had formerly known what I came to know \nlately, I would not have brought the Hadi with me. Had there been no Hadi with me, I would have \nfinished the state of lhram." `Aisha got her menses, so she performed all the ceremonies of Hajj except \nTawaf of the Ka`ba, and when she got clean (from her menses), she performed Tawaf of the Ka`ba. \nShe said, "O Allah's Messenger (ﷺ)! (All of you) are returning with the Hajj and `Umra, but I am returning \nafter performing Hajj only." So the Prophet (ﷺ) ordered `Abdur-Rahman bin Abu Bakr to accompany her \nto Tan`im and thus she performed the `Umra after the Hajj.\n \nNarrated Abu Bakra:\n \n\nThe Prophet (ﷺ) delivered to us a sermon on the Day of Nahr. He said, "Do you know what is the day \ntoday?" We said, "Allah and His Apostle know better." He remained silent till we thought that he \nmight give that day another name. He said, "Isn't it the Day of Nahr?" We said, "It is." He further \nasked, "Which month is this?" We said, "Allah and His Apostle know better." He remained silent till \nwe thought that he might give it another name. He then said, "Isn't it the month of Dhul-Hijja?" We \nreplied: "Yes! It is." He further asked, "What town is this?" We replied, "Allah and His Apostle know \nit better." He remained silent till we thought that he might give it another name. He then said, "Isn't it \nthe forbidden (Sacred) town (of Mecca)?" We said, "Yes. It is." He said, "No doubt, your blood and \nyour properties are sacred to one another like the sanctity of this day of yours, in this month of yours, \nin this town of yours, till the day you meet your Lord. No doubt! Haven't I conveyed Allah's message \nto you? They said, "Yes." He said, "O Allah! Be witness. So it is incumbent upon those who are \npresent to convey it (this information) to those who are absent because the informed one might \ncomprehend it (what I have said) better than the present audience, who will convey it to him. Beware! \nDo not renegade (as) disbelievers after me by striking the necks (cutting the throats) of one another."\n \nNarrated Al-Qasim bin Muhammad:\n \n\n' Aisha said, "We set out with Allah's Messenger (ﷺ)s in the months of Hajj, and (in) the nights of Hajj, and \nat the time and places of Hajj and in a state of Hajj. We dismounted at Sarif (a village six miles from \nMecca). The Prophet (ﷺ) then addressed his companions and said, "Anyone who has not got the Hadi and \nlikes to do Umra instead of Hajj may do so (i.e. Hajj-al-Tamattu`) and anyone who has got the Hadi \nshould not finish the Ihram after performing ' `Umra). (i.e. Hajj-al-Qiran). Aisha added, "The \ncompanions of the Prophet (ﷺ) obeyed the above (order) and some of them (i.e. who did not have Hadi) \nfinished their Ihram after Umra." Allah's Messenger (ﷺ) and some of his companions were resourceful and \nhad the Hadi with them, they could not perform Umra (alone) (but had to perform both Hajj and Umra \nwith one Ihram). Aisha added, "Allah's Messenger (ﷺ) came to me and saw me weeping and said, "What \nmakes you weep, O Hantah?" I replied, "I have heard your conversation with your companions and I \ncannot perform the Umra." He asked, "What is wrong with you?' I replied, ' I do not offer the prayers \n(i.e. I have my menses).' He said, ' It will not harm you for you are one of the daughters of Adam, and \nAllah has written for you (this state) as He has written it for them. Keep on with your intentions for \nHajj and Allah may reward you that." Aisha further added, "Then we proceeded for Hajj till we \nreached Mina and I became clean from my menses. \nThen I went out from Mina and performed Tawaf round the Ka`ba." Aisha added, "I went along with \nthe Prophet (ﷺ) in his final departure (from Hajj) till he dismounted at Al-Muhassab (a valley outside \nMecca), and we too, dismounted with him." He called ' `Abdur-Rahman bin Abu Bakr and said to \nhim, ' Take your sister outside the sanctuary of Mecca and let her assume Ihram for ' `Umra, and when \nyou had finished ' `Umra, return to this place and I will wait for you both till you both return to me.' " ' \nAisha added, " So we went out of the sanctuary of Mecca and after finishing from the ' `Umra and the \nTawaf we returned to the Prophet (ﷺ) at dawn. He said, 'Have you performed the ' `Umra?' We replied in \nthe affirmative. So he announced the departure amongst his companions and the people set out for the \njourney, and the Prophet: too left for Medina.''\n \nNarrated Al-Aswad:\n \n\n' Aisha said, We went out with the Prophet (from Medina) with the intention of performing Hajj only \nand when we reached Mecca we performed Tawaf round the Ka`ba and then the Prophet (ﷺ) ordered those \nwho had not driven the Hadi along with them to finish their Ihram. So the people who had not driven \nthe Hadi along with them finished their Ihram. The Prophet's wives, too, had not driven the Hadi with \nthem, so they too, finished their Ihram." `Aisha added, "I got my menses and could not perform Tawaf \nround the Ka`ba." So when it was the night of Hasba (i.e. when we stopped at Al-Muhassab), I said, \n'O Allah's Messenger (ﷺ)! Everyone is returning after performing Hajj and `Umra but I am returning after \nperforming Hajj only.' He said, 'Didn't you perform Tawaf round the Ka`ba the night we reached \nMecca?' I replied in the negative. He said, 'Go with your brother to Tan`im and assume the Ihram for \n`Umra, (and after performing it) come back to such and such a place.' On that Safiya said, 'I feel that I \nwill detain you all.' The Prophet (ﷺ) said, 'O 'Aqra Halqa! Didn't you perform Tawaf of the Ka`ba on the \nday of sacrifice? (i.e. Tawaf-al-ifada) Safiya replied in the affirmative. He said, (to Safiya). 'There is \nno harm for you to proceed on with us.' " `Aisha added, "(after returning from `Umra), the Prophet (ﷺ) \nmet me while he was ascending (from Mecca) and I was descending to it, or I was ascending and he \nwas descending."\n \nNarrated Yazid bin Ruman from `Urwa:\n \n\n`Aisha said that the Prophet (ﷺ) said to her, "O Aisha! Were your nation not close to the Pre-Islamic \nPeriod of Ignorance, I would have had the Ka`ba demolished and would have included in it the portion \nwhich had been left, and would have made it at a level with the ground and would have made two \ndoors for it, one towards the east and the other towards the west, and then by doing this it would have \nbeen built on the foundations laid by Abraham." That was what urged Ibn-Az-Zubair to demolish the \nKa`ba. Jazz said, "I saw Ibn-Az-Zubair when he demolished and rebuilt the Ka`ba and included in it a \nportion of Al-Hijr (the unroofed portion of Ka`ba which is at present in the form of a compound \ntowards the northwest of the Ka`ba). I saw the original foundations of Abraham which were of stones \nresembling the humps of camels." So Jarir asked Yazid, "Where was the place of those stones?" Jazz \nsaid, "I will just now show it to you." So Jarir accompanied Yazid and entered Al-Hijr, and Jazz \npointed to a place and said, "Here it is." Jarir said, "It appeared to me about six cubits from Al-Hijr or \nso."\n \n\n Ibn Juraij said, " `Ata informed us that when Ibn Hisham forbade women to perform Tawaf with men he said to him, 'How do you forbid them while the wives of the Prophet (ﷺ) used to perform Tawaf with the men?' I said, 'Was this before decreeing of the use of the veil or after it? `Ata took an oath and said, 'I saw it after the order of veil.' I said, 'How did they mix with the men?' `Ata said, 'The women never mixed with the men, and `A'ishah used to perform Tawaf separately and never mixed with men. Once it happened that `A'ishah was performing the Tawaf and woman said to her, 'O Mother of believers! Let us touch the Black stone.' `A'ishah said to her, 'Go yourself,' and she herself refused to do so. The wives of the Prophet (ﷺ) used to come out in night, in disguise and used to perform Tawaf with men. But whenever they intended to enter the Ka`bah, they would stay outside till the men had gone out. I and `Ubaid bin `Umair used to visit `A'ishah while she was residing at Jauf Thabir." I asked, "What was her veil?" `Ata said, "She was wearing an old Turkish veil, and that was the only thing (veil) which was screen between us and her. I saw a pink cover on her."\n \nNarrated Muhammad bin `Abdur-Rahman bin Nawfal Al-Qurashi:\n \n\nI asked `Urwa bin Az-Zubair (regarding the Hajj of the Prophet (ﷺ) ). `Urwa replied, "Aisha narrated, \n'When the Prophet (ﷺ) reached Mecca, the first thing he started with was the ablution, then he performed \nTawaf of the Ka`ba and his intention was not `Umra alone (but Hajj and `Umra together).' " Later Abu \nBakr I performed the Hajj and the first thing he started with was Tawaf of the Ka`ba and it was not \n`Umra alone (but Hajj and `Umra together). And then `Umar did the same. Then `Uthman performed \nthe Hajj and the first thing he started with was Tawaf of the Ka`ba and it was not `Umra alone. And \nthen Muawiya and `Abdullah bin `Umar did the same. I performed Hajj with Ibn Az-Zubair and the \nfirst thing he started with was Tawaf of the Ka`ba and it was not `Umra alone, (but Hajj and `Umra \ntogether). Then I saw the Muhajirin (Emigrants) and Ansar doing the same and it was not `Umra \nalone. And the last person I saw doing the same was Ibn `Umar, and he did not do another `Umra after \nfinishing the first. Now here is Ibn `Umar present amongst the people! They neither ask him nor \nanyone of the previous ones. And all these people, on entering Mecca, would not start with anything \nunless they had performed Tawaf of the Ka`ba, and would not finish their Ihram. And no doubt, I saw \nmy mother and my aunt, on entering Mecca doing nothing before performing Tawaf of the Ka`ba, and \nthey would not finish their lhram. And my mother informed me that she, her sister, Az-Zubair and \nsuch and such persons had assumed lhram for `Umra and after passing their hands over the Corner \n(the Black Stone) (i.e. finishing their Umra) they finished their Ihram."\n \nNarrated Salim bin `Abdullah bin `Umar:\n \n\n`Abdul-Malik bin Marwan wrote to Al-Hajjaj that he should follow `Abdullah bin `Umar in all the \nceremonies of Hajj. So when it was the Day of `Arafat (9th of Dhul-Hijja), and after the sun has \ndeviated or has declined from the middle of the sky, I and Ibn `Umar came and he shouted near the \ncotton (cloth) tent of Al-Hajjaj, "Where is he?" Al-Hajjaj came out. Ibn `Umar said, "Let us proceed \n(to `Arafat)." Al-Hajjaj asked, "Just now?" Ibn `Umar replied, "Yes." Al-Hajjaj said, "Wait for me till \nI pour water on me (i.e. take a bath)." So, Ibn `Umar dismounted (and waited) till Al-Hajjaj came out. \nHe was walking between me and my father. I informed Al-Hajjaj, "If you want to follow the Sunna \ntoday, then you should shorten the sermon and then hurry up for the stay (at `Arafat)." Ibn `Umar said, \n"He (Salim) has spoken the truth."\n \nNarrated Ibn `Umar:\n \n\nDuring the last Hajj (Hajj-al-Wada`) of Allah's Messenger (ﷺ) he performed `Umra and Hajj. He drove a \nHadi along with him from Dhul-Hulaifa. Allah's Messenger (ﷺ) started by assuming Ihram for `Umra and \nHajj. And the people, too, performed the `Umra and Hajj along with the Prophet. Some of them \nbrought the Hadi and drove it along with them, while the others did not. So, when the Prophet (ﷺ) arrived \nat Mecca. he said to the people, "Whoever among you has driven the Hadi, should not finish his Ihram \ntill he completes his Hajj. And whoever among you has not (driven) the Hadi with him, should \nperform Tawaf of the Ka`ba and the Tawaf between Safa and Marwa, then cut short his hair and finish \nhis Ihram, and should later assume Ihram for Hajj; but he must offer a Hadi (sacrifice); and if anyone \ncannot afford a Hadi, he should fast for three days during the Hajj and seven days when he returns \nhome. The Prophet (ﷺ) performed Tawaf of the Ka`ba on his arrival (at Mecca); he touched the (Black \nStone) corner first of all and then did Ramal (fast walking with moving of the shoulders) during the \nfirst three rounds round the Ka`ba, and during the last four rounds he walked. After finishing Tawaf of \nthe Ka`ba, he offered a two rak`at prayer at Maqam Ibrahim, and after finishing the prayer he went to \nSafa and Marwa and performed seven rounds of Tawaf between them and did not do any deed \nforbidden because of Ihram, till he finished all the ceremonies of his Hajj and sacrificed his Hadi on \nthe day of Nahr (10th day of Dhul-Hijja). He then hastened onwards (to Mecca) and performed Tawaf \nof the Ka`ba and then everything that was forbidden because of Ihram became permissible. Those who \ntook and drove the Hadi with them did the same as Allah's Messenger (ﷺ) did.\n Statistiques du graphe
