\nNarrated `Umar:\n \n\nAllah's Messenger (ﷺ) used to give me something but I would say to him, "would you give it to a poorer and \nmore needy one than l?" The Prophet (p.b.u.h) said to me, "Take it. If you are given something from \nthis property, without asking for it or having greed for it take it; and if not given, do not run for it."\n

حَدَّثَنَا يَحْيَى بْنُ بُكَيْرٍ، حَدَّثَنَا اللَّيْثُ، عَنْ يُونُسَ، عَنِ الزُّهْرِيِّ، عَنْ سَالِمٍ، أَنَّ عَبْدَ اللَّهِ بْنَ عُمَرَ ـ رضى الله عنهما ـ قَالَ سَمِعْتُ عُمَرَ، يَقُولُ كَانَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صلى الله عليه وسلم يُعْطِينِي الْعَطَاءَ فَأَقُولُ أَعْطِهِ مَنْ هُوَ أَفْقَرُ إِلَيْهِ مِنِّي فَقَالَ ‏\n"‏ خُذْهُ، إِذَا جَاءَكَ مِنْ هَذَا الْمَالِ شَىْءٌ، وَأَنْتَ غَيْرُ مُشْرِفٍ وَلاَ سَائِلٍ، فَخُذْهُ، وَمَا لاَ فَلاَ تُتْبِعْهُ نَفْسَكَ ‏"‏‏.‏
